We are hoping that some UK families will be able to ‘sponsor’ a South Gonder family for a year. But whatever the amount you are able to give, it will be spent on the direct costs of support. We will keep you up to date with news of our young families’ progress, and developments as the project grows.
With your help and interest, we look forward to breaking the cycle of poverty and seeing hope and confidence on the faces of mothers and children for the first time.
The South Gonder Mother and Child project is supported by BEZA Church in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and Speen Church in Buckinghamshire, UK. It is registered through BEZA Community Development Association.
Endayehu is thirty years old. She was forced to leave school at 14, when her family arranged her marriage.
Seen here with her two year old twins, Endayehu works as a daily labourer, earning £5 a month.
She has no financial support from anybody else and in addition to the twins, Endayehu has three older sons aged 7, 11, and 14 years.
The family rarely has enough to eat.
